A Hot Work Permit is an internal permit issued by the permit authorizing individual (PAI), which should not be valid for more than 24 hours. This internal permit is separate from, and does not replace, the AHJ permit.
A Fire Department (AHJ) Permit is a document issued by the authority having jurisdiction (AHJ) to a qualified person for the purpose of authorizing that individual to carry out the activity of hot work.
