An on-site posted permit is required for most hot work done in Massachusetts. Starting July 1, 2018, anyone applying for a hot works permit from the local fire department anywhere in the state of Massachusetts must show they have completed an approved training program.
Hot work is any work involving burning, welding, or a similar operation that is capable of initiating fires or explosions. Hot work could also be defined as activities involving: Flame, Spark production, Heat
